Laboratory of force is built to respond to the needs of industry sector in the Republic of Kosovo, in particular to construction sector needs. The laboratory of force primary activities are to ensure measurements traceability at the international level for physical unit of force and power transmission unit in the lowest level, up to last users.
The measurement traceability at the international level is achieved through unbroken chain of comparison / calibration of the force referent transducers at a Metrology National Institute, which has confirmed the Measuring and Calibration capability in BIPM KCDB (calibration of force transducers chain in the range of 5 kN up 3000 kN was done at the National Institutes of Turkey, Albania and Germany).
Force transmission unit to the last users is made by applying calibration standard procedures.
Calibration procedures

- According to standard SK EN ISO 7500-1 (testing materials machines for testing static uniaxial and compressive machines)
- According to standard SK EN ISO 12390-4 (Compression testing machines).
Measuring instruments and devices used for calibration:
• Tensile and compression force transducers chain in measuring field of 5kN, 20kN, 100kN, 500kN 2000kN and 3000kN;
• High accurate digital amplificatory , GTM LT-digitizer with measuring accuracy 0.0025 %
• Software for automatic recording of measurement values.
For calibration of tensile and compression testing machines, the laboratory is equipped with many other auxiliary instruments to measure:
- hardness of metal plate
- roughness for metal plate,
- surface flatness of metal plates.
Laboratory carries out certain calibration measurement and certification of testing machines of materials in all testing laboratories for construction materials.
