For any infrastructure of the economy it is essential to develop an effective Metrology system. Developed metrology is one of the quality and progress foundations for: trade, industry, science and technology, public health and environmental protection.
- preserve, develop and use national standard measurement units;
- ensures their equivalence and international acceptance;
- protect consumers by organizing measurements units control in field of official and trade transactions, health protection, environment and technical safety protection, as well as quantity control of the pre-packaging;
- provide calibration services to producers and users of measuring instruments in order to be competitive in the domestic and external markets.
The Kosovo Metrology Agency as a national institute with headquarters in Pristina and regional branch in Prizren, operates under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. KMA’s works for developing three metrology directions in our country: the scientific metrology, industrial and legal metrology.
Thus, KMA is in charge for Metrology National System.
